Mahmut Laçin: Historical photos of Balkan War hero revealed
Historical black-and-white photographs of Mahmut Laçin, an artillery captain from Erzurum who was martyred during the Balkan Wars, have been brought to light through his granddaughter, Seda Laçin Tek.
Researcher Taner Özdemir previously highlighted Laçin’s story using Ottoman archival documents, leading to the naming of the ‘Martyr Laçin Battery.’ The newly revealed collection includes two significant images: one depicting Laçin in his military uniform adorned with medals, and a second family portrait featuring his wife, İkbal Hanım, and his son, Mükremin Laçin.
These photographs provide a rare visual record of both the officer's military service and his family life, preserving a historical legacy that had been kept within the family archives for years.
