Mahmut Çınar Realizes 35‑Year Dream with 1987 Tofaş Doğan and Meets Singer Cengiz Kurtoğlu
Mahmut Çınar, a 52‑year‑old resident of Küçükçekmece, Turkey, spent three and a half decades pursuing his childhood ambition to own a 1987 Tofaş Doğan. After locating a suitable vehicle eight years ago, he negotiated a purchase price of 40,000 Turkish lira and finally acquired the car.
For the same length of time Çınar kept a 1987 cassette of Turkish singer Cengiz Kurtoğlu sealed in gelatin. When the car was delivered, he arranged a meeting with the artist, who visited and listened to his own songs inside the newly bought vehicle. Çınar described the encounter as a "time‑machine" moment, saying the experience combined his lifelong passion for automobiles with his admiration for Kurtoğlu.
The story highlights Çınar’s dedication to a personal dream, the preservation of a nostalgic music cassette, and the emotional significance of finally meeting the singer whose work he cherished throughout his youth.
