Mai Chwalińska awarded Wimbledon wildcard ahead of Grand Slam debut

Polish tennis player Mai Chwalińska received a wildcard entry into the Wimbledon singles main draw, following her runner‑up finish at the French Open. Coach Jaroslav Machovsky said, “Everything we could do, we did in Paris, and Maja showed it on court,” and added that the wildcard gives her extra time to prepare. The Polish team will train on grass in London, using facilities at Aorangi Park, before travelling to the tournament. Chwalińska’s coach noted her strong mindset, saying she “is handling it very well” and intends to build on her recent successes.

The wildcard eliminates the need for Chwalińska to play qualifying matches, easing both the physical and mental demands of the Grand Slam season. The Polish tennis federation highlighted the opportunity for the 22‑year‑old to gain experience on Wimbledon’s grass courts and to continue her development on the world tour.
