Mai Chwalińska receives Wimbledon wild card as Danielle Collins calls for rule change

Polish tennis player Mai Chwalińska, ranked No. 21 on the WTA list, was granted a wild card for this year’s Wimbledon, allowing her to enter the main draw without playing qualifying rounds. Her manager Piotr Szczypka said she will now prepare on the grass courts in England.

Former tour player Danielle Collins praised the decision, stating that Chwalińska “fully deserves” the spot, and used the opportunity to urge tournament officials to shorten the transition period between the French Open and Wimbledon from six weeks to three weeks.

The Wimbledon tournament runs from 29 June to 12 July, and the wild card will enable Chwalińska to compete directly at the Grand Slam.
