Moldova authorities dismantle 4 million lei import fraud scheme

Authorities in Moldova have uncovered a fraudulent import scheme involving electric scooters and tricycles from China, resulting in an estimated 4 million lei loss to the state budget. The scheme involved a company providing false customs declarations regarding the characteristics of the imported goods.

In a separate matter, President Maia Sandu has called upon the National Anticorruption Center to investigate Moldatsa. The President raised concerns regarding the legality of excessive supplementary payments made to several hundred employees by the institution's director, Dumitru Vangheli, suggesting these contracts may have bypassed standard legal procedures.
