Maica García leaves Club Natació Sabadell after contract non-renewal

Olympic water polo champion Maica García is leaving Club Natació Sabadell after the club decided not to renew her contract. The 36-year-old athlete, who has been with the club since the age of four, expressed deep sadness over the abrupt end to her tenure, stating she never imagined her career at the club would conclude this way.

García, a decorated player with seven Champions League titles and multiple national championships, noted that she had expressed a desire to continue competing while balancing motherhood following the birth of her daughter last year. However, the club's management determined that her career at Sabadell could not continue. García criticized the management of her situation and the decision itself, despite her long history of commitment to the institution.

Following her departure, the international player intends to seek a new club to continue her professional career and pursue a place in the upcoming Los Angeles Olympic Games.
