Maike Halbisch wins bronze in high diving at European Championships

German diver Maike Halbisch secured a bronze medal in the high diving competition at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. Competing from a 20-meter platform on the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, the 21-year-old climbed from seventh place to the podium following her final dive.

Halbisch's performance was marked by a high-risk approach, executing what was described as one of the most difficult dives in the field. The attempt was briefly delayed when a metro train passed on the bridge; Halbisch noted that the movement caused the scaffolding to wobble slightly, prompting her to wait and exchange waves with the driver before proceeding.

With a total of 292.15 points, Halbisch finished behind gold medalist Nelli Tschukaniwska of Ukraine (324.70 points) and silver medalist Elisa Cosetti of Italy (297.20 points). Defending champion Iris Schmidbauer finished in fifth place.
