Maikel Garcia returns to Kansas City Royals roster

The Kansas City Royals have reinstated infielder Maikel Garcia from the 10-day injured list following a rehab assignment. Garcia returns after recovering from a left hamstring strain, which followed previous injuries to his left hand and right hamstring during the season.

To accommodate Garcia's return, the Royals optioned outfielder Matthew Lugo to Triple-A. Garcia, who signed a five-year, $57.5 million contract extension through 2030, has had a limited season due to health issues, recording 286 at-bats with a .266/.323/.381 slash line.

In regional collegiate sports, Emma Zheng of Iowa State won the Badger Invitational in women's golf. Other notable results include the Iowa men's golf team tying for 6th at the Inverness Intercollegiate, and Northern Iowa's men's golf team seeing Dinnebier finish 10th in Kansas.
