Mailza Assis defends Bolsonaro support and outlines spending cuts

Acre Governor and reelection candidate Mailza Assis (Progressistas) addressed her political alignments and economic plans during recent televised interviews.

During a debate, Assis justified her support for former President Jair Bolsonaro, stating that his leadership aligned with her personal principles and values. She noted that her time in the Senate occurred during a difficult transition period and emphasized that her focus remains on the interests of the people of Acre rather than political extremism. She expressed respect for current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva while maintaining her stance on Bolsonaro’s administration.

Regarding fiscal management, Assis stated that if reelected, her administration would prioritize cutting unnecessary government spending.
