ARGE Fisch appoints new managing director in Tirschenreuth

The ARGE Fisch association in the Tirschenreuth district held its annual general meeting, marking a leadership change as Markus Kraus takes over as managing director from Dr. Mariya Ransberger.

Kraus, who also serves as a project manager for the EU fishery area at the Tirschenreuth district office, highlighted several critical challenges facing local pond management. These include the impacts of climate change, pressure from predators such as otters and cormorants, and structural uncertainty regarding the restructuring of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).

District Administrator Hubert Schicker expressed support for the association, noting that the EMFAF is a central pillar for financial assistance to pond farmers, though its future framework remains uncertain due to EU restructuring.
