Maine culinary festivals celebrate regional seafood and oysters

Maine is hosting several culinary festivals celebrating the region's seafood and beverage industry. The 23rd annual Pemaquid Oyster Festival recently took place in Boothbay Harbor, featuring oysters from various Damariscotta River region producers. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Edward A. Myers Marine Conservation Fund, which provides grants and scholarships for marine education and conservation in Lincoln County.

During the Pemaquid event, Andy Rogers of Jolie Rogers Raw Bar successfully defended his title in the oyster shucking contest, earning a spot to compete in the U.S. National Oyster Shucking Championship.

Looking ahead to October, Portland will host the 18th annual Harvest on the Harbor festival at Maine Studio Works. The celebration will include the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year competition, featuring ten culinary teams, as well as sessions of the Maine OysterFest where attendees can sample local oysters and meet regional growers.
