Maine Democratic Senate hopeful Graham Platner hit by sexting scandal amid previous controversies

Graham Platner, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate seat from Maine, is facing a new scandal involving sexually explicit texts sent to several women, discovered by his wife in early 2025. The revelation follows earlier controversies, including a Nazi‑related tattoo and inflammatory online posts, which have already drawn criticism.

Despite the scandals, Platner remained ahead in the Democratic primary race, with a recent University of New Hampshire poll showing him at 76% support versus 10% for former Governor Janet Mills, whose candidacy was withdrawn.
