Maine foliage reaches peak in Northern and Western regions

According to the Maine Foliage Report from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, peak foliage has arrived in Northern and Western Maine.

The seasonal progression indicates that Central and Western Maine will reach peak color in mid-October, while Southern Maine is expected to see peak foliage toward the end of the month. Currently, Northcentral Maine is experiencing high foliage levels, and Southern and Downeast regions are at moderate levels.

Weather forecasts suggest more warm weather in the coming week, which may impact the season. Observers are looking for cooler nights to offset daytime temperatures exceeding 70 degrees to maintain the foliage progression.
