60‑year‑old Lawrence Knowles of Norridgewock led a dangerous pursuit on Interstate 95 near Bangor on Sunday night after a Maine Game Warden in an emergency vehicle was brake‑checked by his stolen Chevrolet pickup. He ignored repeated attempts to stop, used an emergency‑only crossover, and drove south in the northbound lanes at speeds over 80 mph.
State police rammed the vehicle, forcing it into a ditch where officers apprehended Knowles. He was treated for minor injuries and booked into Penobscot County Jail. Charges include eluding an officer, operating under the influence of drugs, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, aggravated operating after habitual offender revocation, violation of conditions of release, and refusing to submit to arrest. No law‑enforcement officers were injured.
