Maine ranks 10th best state for teen drivers

Maine has been ranked as the 10th best state in the United States for teen drivers according to a study by WalletHub. The assessment evaluated all 50 states using 23 different metrics, including driving laws, insurance costs, road conditions, and teen driver fatalities.

Maine secured the top position in several specific categories, including graduated licensing laws, distracted-driving and texting laws, and the average cost of car repairs. The state also ranked seventh for occupant-protection laws and seventh for teen driver fatalities per 100,000 teenagers.

However, the report noted areas for improvement, placing Maine 19th for road quality, 29th for teen DUIs per 100,000 teenagers, and 30th for vehicle miles traveled per capita.
