Maine restaurants Bayley's Seafood and Village Tavern close permanently

Two longtime Maine restaurants, Bayley's Seafood and Village Tavern, have announced their permanent closures.

Bayley's Seafood in Scarborough, which had been family-owned and operated since 1995, officially closed on August 20. The establishment had been a local staple for over 30 years. The restaurant faced several challenges in recent years, including the death of its patriarch in 2021.

In Kennebunk, the Village Tavern also announced it would be closing permanently. The restaurant cited rising costs, a changing economic reality, and the termination of its lease by the landlord as primary reasons for the closure. The business had undergone a change in ownership just last year.
