Maine restaurants close during July and August

Several restaurants in Maine closed during July and August 2026, including long-standing seafood establishments. McGlaughlin's Lobster Shack in Lincolnville, which had operated for nearly 50 years, and Bayley's Seafood Restaurant in Scarborough, a Pine Point icon for approximately 30 years, both ceased operations in August.

Other notable closures included newer establishments such as Magno Terra Cafe in Yarmouth, which opened in 2025, and Jodie's Cafe & Bakery in Wiscasset, which had been in business since 2022.
