Maine sees nine new restaurant openings in September 2026

Nine new dining establishments opened across Maine in September 2026, ranging from Asian fusion and Ethiopian cuisine to cafes and pubs.

In Freeport, the 1912 Cafe has reopened as part of a $50 million renovation of the L. L. Bean flagship store. The redesigned cafe is approximately twice its original size, offering more seating and an updated menu. The renovation also included upgrades to the retailer's facilities, such as a larger two-tiered trout pond and a reimagined children's department.

Additionally, the Mustard Public House has opened in Buxton, occupying a historic landmark formerly known as the Mustard House. The new eatery focuses on elevated comfort food.
