Maine state parks to offer free admission with library cards
Maine is hosting a free admission day for its state parks on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Visitors can gain entry to participating locations by presenting a Maine library card.
The program includes many of the state's more than 48 state parks and historic sites, such as Crescent Beach State Park. However, several major destinations are excluded from the event. Acadia National Park is not included because it is a national park rather than a state park. Other notable exceptions include Baxter State Park, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, the Maine Wildlife Park, Swan Island, the Penobscot River Corridor, and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory. Additionally, Peacock and Scarborough beaches are not part of the free admission initiative.
