Maine Senate race: Susan Collins leads Troy Jackson in polls

The Maine Senate race between incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins and Democratic nominee Troy Jackson is intensifying as election day approaches. Recent polling from co/efficient and New York Times/Siena shows Collins maintaining a narrow lead, with Collins holding approximately 48-49 percent of the vote compared to Jackson’s 46 percent.

Jackson’s campaign has received an endorsement from EqualityMaine, which cited his support for LGBTQ+ rights, including the Equality Act and healthcare access. However, Jackson has faced scrutiny regarding his foreign policy experience following controversial remarks about the Israel-Gaza war, for which he issued an apology.

Simultaneously, Collins’ campaign is facing scrutiny following reports from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee alleging that a strategist supporting her paid consulting fees to her husband, Tom Daffron. Collins has dismissed various investigations into her campaign as politically motivated. On the policy front, Collins continues to highlight her work on energy security and grid resilience, recently visiting a site for a federal energy storage project in Lincoln, Maine.
