Mainpuri man arrested for allegedly shooting daughter in head

A 48-year-old man, identified as Asin Khan, was arrested in Bhongaon, Uttar Pradesh, after allegedly shooting his 19-year-old daughter in the head while she was sleeping. The incident occurred in the Mainpuri district following a dispute over the victim's choice of marriage partner.

According to police, the victim, Shazia, had been in a relationship and wished to marry her partner. However, her father had arranged for her to marry a different man on November 19. After she refused the arranged marriage, Khan allegedly shot her while she slept.

Shazia sustained critical injuries and was transferred from a district hospital to Saifai Medical College for specialized treatment. Her mother, Kherunisha, filed a First Information Report (FIR) against her husband, accusing him of attempted murder. Police confirmed Khan was apprehended while heading to the local police station following the attack.
