Mainstay/Whyaka community sees growth from LCDS investments

Government investments through the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) are driving economic transformation in the Mainstay/Whyaka community, specifically within the tourism and agriculture sectors. During a visit to the Lake Mainstay Regatta, President Irfaan Ali noted that the community has expanded its economic activities to include pineapple and chicken projects, aquaculture, and fish projects.

Toshao Marsha Williams highlighted that LCDS funding enabled the development of the village’s first modern cabins, allowing the community to provide accommodation beyond the existing Lake Mainstay Resort. These investments have created local jobs and supported caterers and transportation providers. Additionally, infrastructure improvements and the construction of an airstrip are enhancing accessibility and supporting a more sustainable local economy.
