Maintal launches AI assistant for waste management

The city of Maintal, in collaboration with Rhein-Main Abfall GmbH (RMA) and Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH, has launched a pilot phase for a digital AI assistant named ‘KIRMA’.

Starting September 1, 2026, the assistant is designed to help citizens with inquiries regarding waste disposal, collection schedules, and recycling procedures. The tool aims to provide 24/7 access to municipal information, allowing users to ask questions in various languages rather than searching through forms or websites.

KIRMA is part of a broader digitalization strategy intended to make administrative knowledge more accessible while relieving municipal employees of routine, repetitive inquiries. A full, unrestricted rollout is scheduled for October 1, 2026.
