Mainz 05 hosts Werder Bremen in Bundesliga matchup

Mainz 05 prepares to host Werder Bremen this Saturday in a Bundesliga fixture, seeking their first home victory of the season. Despite a strong start to the campaign that has placed them fifth in the standings, Mainz has struggled at home, securing only one point from their last six Bundesliga home matches. Striker Phillip Tietz has been a key contributor for Mainz, scoring five goals in the first six league games.

Werder Bremen enters the match following a 2-2 draw against Paderborn, a game in which they recovered from a two-goal deficit. Coach Daniel Thioune has indicated that Mitchell Weiser, who recently returned from a long-term injury, is a candidate to return to the starting lineup. The match is also noted for the matchup between strikers Phillip Tietz and Niclas Füllkrug.

Mainz faces personnel challenges with Dominik Kohr, Otto Ruoppi, and Silas sidelined by injuries, while Robin Zentner remains out with a hand issue.
