Mainz bus services hit by accident injuries and summer roadwork disruptions
On Thursday at about 16:30, a car turning into Bauerngasse collided with a city bus on the Rheinstraße in Mainz. The crash left four bus passengers with light injuries. The incident occurred on a main thorough‑fare leading toward the town hall and was reported by local police.
Starting with the summer holidays, extensive road‑work projects in the Mainz‑Bingen and Bad Kreuznach districts will alter the Rhein‑Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund (RNN) bus network. Several lines, including 630, 653, 654, 656, 223, 640, 644 and 646, will face detours, changed timetables, and the temporary removal of stops such as Finther Weg, Rathaus, and In den Domherrngärten in Essenheim. A full closure between Bosenheim and Pfaffen‑Schwabenheim will affect lines 223 and 630 for roughly three months, while other sections of the network experience partial closures and rerouted services. These changes aim to maintain connections to Mainz, Bad Kreuznach and surrounding towns throughout the construction period.
