Mainz meinRad bike rental system reaches record usage

The meinRad electric bicycle rental system in Mainz, Germany, is experiencing record growth. Between January and August 2026, the system recorded approximately 350,000 trips, representing a 63% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

This upward trend is attributed to a gradual expansion of the fleet, improved system availability, and an increased focus on electric Pedelecs. As of June, 150 additional electric bicycles were added to the fleet, bringing the proportion of electrified bikes to over 25%. Tina Smolders, Managing Director of MVGmeinRad GmbH, noted that the continuous development of the system is being well-received by customers.
