Mainz research projects receive 1.5 million euros in funding
Five research projects at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and University Medical Center Mainz have been awarded approximately 1.5 million euros in funding. The financial support is provided by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The funding is part of the “Valorization of Research and Development Results” program, which aims to transform scientific findings into commercially viable applications, such as through licensing or company startups. Between 2027 and 2030, a total of approximately 12 million euros will be available for this program.
The specific research areas include new diagnostic methods for neurodegenerative diseases, RNA-based technologies, and potential cancer therapies. Key objectives include developing new active ingredients against acute myeloid leukemia, investigating methods to regenerate the blood-forming system following chemotherapy, and using antibodies to target active ingredients directly into tumor cells.
