Maipú and Penipe municipalities advance local development plans

The Maipú Municipal Council has approved the Communal Development Plan (PLADECO) for the 2026-2030 period. The plan, presented by SECPLA Director Patricio García, serves as a strategic roadmap to address urban, social, environmental, and institutional challenges. The development of the plan was managed entirely by municipal professional teams, a move that reportedly saved approximately $180 million compared to hiring external consultants.

In Penipe, the municipal administration is prioritizing improvements to drinking water and sewage systems. Technical studies are currently underway in several sectors, including El Altar, San Antonio de Bayushig, Candelaria, Matus, and Bilbao, to identify infrastructure needs and costs. The municipality has also allocated USD 35,000 for water network improvements in La Matriz and has previously invested over USD 226,000 in sewage works in El Calvario Alto and Uñag.
