Maipú councilman denies opposing September 11 commemorations

In Maipú, Chile, Republican Party councilman Edison Aguilera has denied allegations made by Mayor Tomás Vodanovic regarding the commemoration of September 11. Aguilera characterized the Mayor’s claims as “false, false, false,” stating that the Mayor is misrepresenting his legal inquiry to the Comptroller General.

Aguilera’s request to the Comptroller does not contest the holding of memorial acts. Instead, he has asked for a determination on the legality of summoning municipal employees to participate in the event during their regular working hours. He also requested a review of the resources used and an assessment of how service continuity was guaranteed during the proceedings.
