Maipú Mayor estimates $300 million cost for Municipal Theater demolition

Maipú Mayor Tomás Vodanovic has reported that the potential demolition of the Municipal Theater following a recent fire could cost approximately $300 million. The decision to demolish the structure remains pending a technical evaluation of its structural integrity.

Firefighters have indicated that the high temperatures reached during the blaze may have compromised the building's resistance. If demolition is required, Vodanovic warned that constructing new cultural infrastructure could take at least two to three years, even with favorable financing. The theater was previously undergoing remodeling to become a convention center as part of the 'Plan Maipú Ciudad 2030' initiative.
