Spanish political parties reorganize ahead of 2027 elections

Political movements are intensifying across Spain as parties prepare for the 2027 electoral cycle. In the Valencian Community, Alberto Núñez Feijóo has delayed the official proclamation of regional candidates, leaving the status of Juanfran Pérez Llorca as the potential leader for the Generalitat Valenciana uncertain.

In Mairena del Aljarafe, the Partido Popular (PP) has unanimously selected Alejandro García Casares as its candidate for Mayor. This move follows internal restructuring aimed at challenging the current PSOE administration. This comes amid separate internal crises within the local PP branch in Mairena, where legal proceedings regarding alleged embezzlement by former president Vicente Agenjo have caused leadership instability.

In Andalusia, the PSOE is working to strengthen its relationship with the UGT labor union. María Jesús Montero, leader of the Andalusian socialists, has met with UGT Andalucía Secretary General Óskar Martín to revitalize the cooperation between the two organizations, focusing on issues such as housing, employment quality, and the regional productive model.
