Maitê Proença criticizes abrupt dismissal from TV Globo

Brazilian actress Maitê Proença has spoken out about her abrupt departure from TV Globo after a career spanning approximately four decades. During an interview with the program Veja Gente, the 68-year-old actress described the dismissal as “very ugly,” noting that she learned of her exit through news reports rather than a direct conversation with the network.

Proença stated that she joined the broadcaster at age 20 and was dismissed at age 60. She expressed distress over the lack of formal procedures during the separation, claiming, “there was no letter, there was no prior notice, there was no severance pay, there was nothing.” She emphasized that her personal financial discipline was crucial in managing the sudden loss of income.

In addition to discussing her dismissal, Proença commented on the evolution of TV Globo, suggesting that the departure of former executive Boni impacted the network's intuitive direction. She noted that her exit was part of a wave of dismissals involving long-standing staff members.
