Maite Kelly discusses modeling career and body image

German Schlager singer Maite Kelly shared personal insights regarding her upbringing and previous career during an appearance on the podcast ‘Frühstück bei Barbara’ with Barbara Schöneberger.

Kelly discussed how her late father, Dan Kelly, helped her develop a positive body image. He used a small figurine of a fertility goddess to remind her that fuller figures were historically revered, helping her maintain self-confidence despite being teased.

Additionally, Kelly reflected on her successful career as a curvy model prior to her music stardom. She described herself as ‘one of the best-paid curvy models,’ noting that her work extended beyond Germany to England and other parts of Europe. Her modeling success included working as a testimonial for the fashion brand bonprix, for which she also designed a clothing line specifically for curvy women.
