Maja Chwalińska becomes first qualifier to reach Roland Garros final

Polish 24‑year‑old Maja Chwalińska made history at the French Open by becoming the first qualifier ever to advance to the women's singles final. After beating Diane Štajner in the semi‑final, she will face Russia’s Mirra Andreeva on Saturday, 6 June, at 15:00 in Paris.

During the post‑match press conference Chwalińska talked about her tiny hand tattoo that reads “FREE”, joked about not having a clothing sponsor, and mentioned her team’s quirky habit of eating pizza daily during the tournament. She said she would spend the final‑day resting, watching a series and sipping tea before the match.
