Maja Chwalińska breaks into top 30 after Roland Garros semifinal victory
Polish tennis player Maja Chwalińska surged from the 200s into the early thirties of the WTA rankings after reaching the semifinals of Roland Garros, where she defeated Diană Sznajder 7‑5, 6‑4. In the final, Mirra Andriejewa claimed her first Grand Slam title. Russian tennis federation chief Szamil Tarpiszczew criticised Sznajder’s coaches for her loss, noting the youngster had previously hovered around rank 25 and is now projected to sit between 12th‑13th in the world. Chwalińska plans to return to Poland on 8 June for rest and off‑court duties, with her participation in Wimbledon still uncertain pending qualification requirements.
