Polish tennis star Maja Chwalińska withdraws from Hamburg WTA 250

Poland’s 24‑year‑old tennis player Maja Chwalińska will not compete in the WTA 250 MSC Hamburg Ladies Open. The decision follows an ankle injury sustained in the first round of Wimbledon, where she slipped and was forced to retire against Thailand’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew.

Her club, Beskidzki Klub Tenisowy Advantage Bielsko‑Biała, announced that after medical consultation the team decided to continue treatment and postpone her return to competition.

Chwalińska, a recent Roland Garros finalist who rose into the world’s top‑30, also withdrew earlier from a WTA 250 event in Jassy. She aims to complete rehabilitation before targeting the North‑American swing in Toronto, Cincinnati and the US Open later in the season.
