Maja Chwalińska loses in Toronto, coach cites injury and match details

Polish tennis player Maja Chwalińska was eliminated in the second round of the WTA 1000 event in Toronto, falling to Talia Gibson 5‑7, 1‑6. Coach Jaroslav Machovsky, speaking to Interia Sport, said the defeat stemmed from a combination of factors: it was her first hard‑court tournament of the year, she was still recovering from a recent injury, and she had not played a match since Wimbledon two months earlier. He noted that Chwalińska “lost the rhythm” and made some tactical errors, but emphasized there is no cause for alarm and that the training camp remains under control.

Machovsky added that Chwalińska will spend the next few days training with Petr Hajek in Toronto before moving to Cincinnati to continue her preparation. He urged her to stay calm and regain her match rhythm.
