Maja Chwalińska loses Roland Garros final as Mirra Andriejewa triumphs
Polish teenager Maja Chwalińska was defeated 3‑6, 2‑6 by Russia’s Mirra Andriejewa in the women’s singles final at the French Open on the clay courts of Roland Garros. After the match, fellow Polish tennis star Hubert Hurkacz posted a supportive message on Instagram, praising Chwalińska’s effort and wishing her success.
Russian former player and sparring partner Aleksiej Watutin, who trains with Andriejewa, explained that the team expected the Russian to dominate the final. He highlighted the semifinal against Ukraine’s Marta Kostiuk as a decisive moment and recalled encouraging Andriejewa after a previous loss in Madrid, saying the confidence paid off in Paris.
