Majd al-Krum residents escalate protests against settlement outpost
Residents and local leaders in Majd al-Krum are escalating legal and grassroots actions to remove a growing settlement outpost in the Al-Rus area. The local council and a popular committee have issued statements rejecting the outpost, calling for organized, peaceful daily protests and visits to the site to prevent the establishment of a permanent settlement.
Legal experts, including attorney Hussein Manaa, argue that the outpost is illegal and exceeds the scope of permitted grazing activities. Manaa noted that the site includes unauthorized structures, electricity, and water connections, which violate building and planning laws. He highlighted that some of the land in question is privately owned by local residents, providing a potential legal path for eviction requests.
Political figures, such as Dr. Yousef Jabareen, have warned that the outpost is part of a broader plan to expand settlement activity into the Galilee region, mirroring tactics used in the West Bank. Protesters and local officials are planning to involve parliamentary members, journalists, and human rights organizations to bring international and national attention to the situation.
