Majes axe attack survivor seeks aid for children's medical costs

Roberta Calcín Pacompi, a survivor of a violent axe attack in Majes, Arequipa, is seeking financial assistance to cover medical treatments for her children and herself. The attack, which occurred on June 2, resulted in the death of her husband, Gerardo Calsín, and left several family members with serious injuries.

One of her children, a 10-year-old boy, suffered a spinal fracture and is currently in a wheelchair in Lima, requiring surgery and specialized medical supplies. Her 14-year-old daughter also requires surgery for a shoulder fracture. Roberta herself needs an operation for a shoulder injury but has stated her priority is the recovery of her children.

The family is currently facing severe economic hardship, with costs for medications and supplies exceeding 3,000 soles. The suspects involved in the attack, brothers Fray and Tony Ccoyuri Chumbisuca, remain in preventive prison as investigations continue.
