Major art exhibitions announced for Hong Kong featuring Van Gogh and Vermeer
Hong Kong is set to host significant art exhibitions featuring rare masterpieces. Sotheby’s has launched a preview of the Blaquier-Arrieta collection in Hong Kong, which includes works that have not been public for over half a century. Notable pieces include Vincent van Gogh’s “Châtaigniers en fleurs” (1890), valued at approximately $180 million, and Paul Cézanne’s “Arlequin” (1888–1890), estimated at over $120 million.
Additionally, the Hong Kong Palace Museum has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam to co-organize a major exhibition in 2027. This exhibition will focus on the 17th-century Dutch Golden Age and is expected to feature approximately 100 world-class treasures. A primary highlight will be the first exhibition of Johannes Vermeer’s “The Love Letter” in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, alongside a large-scale display of works by Rembrandt.
