Major art exhibitions open in Florence and Madrid
Major art exhibitions are opening in Florence and Madrid, highlighting both abstract and classical traditions. In Florence, a large-scale project dedicated to Mark Rothko features over seventy works across the Palazzo Strozzi, the Museo di San Marco, and the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana. Curated by Christopher Rothko and Elena Geuna, the exhibition explores the artist’s aesthetic connection to the Renaissance tradition and the city of Florence, tracing his evolution from early figurative works to his mature, luminous, and opaque abstract style.
In Madrid, the Nomad Museo Inmersivo is hosting ‘La Tríada Inmortal’, an immersive audiovisual experience featuring the works of El Greco, Diego Velázquez, and Francisco de Goya. Running until August 31, the exhibition uses high-definition projections, multi-channel animations, and surround sound to present the masters' paintings on a large scale. The experience allows visitors to engage with the spiritual Mannerism of El Greco, the light and perspective of Velázquez, and the diverse social and political registers of Goya’s career.
