Major brokerages launch Open Real Estate data-sharing platform

AGNT Inc., HomeServices of America, Keller Williams Realty, and Real REMAX Group have announced the formation of Open Real Estate, a national residential real estate data-sharing initiative. The platform is designed to streamline the distribution of property information and expand access to housing inventory by allowing participating brokerages to distribute listings across multiple listing services (MLSs), real estate portals, and other authorized recipients.

Founding members emphasized that the platform is not intended to replace local MLSs but to work alongside them. The system will allow agents to use a single input to push listings to various platforms, or allow local MLSs to supply data to Open Real Estate. The initiative aims to promote fair competition and protect data integrity, serving as a counterweight to private listing networks that restrict marketing access to specific brokerage networks.

Other participating brokers include Brown Harris Stevens, Lamacchia Realty, Samson Properties, and Windermere Real Estate. The founders stated that the platform will establish clear governance and data ownership rules while maintaining local regulation through existing MLS structures.
