MLB explores hosting game in Grand Teton National Park

Major League Baseball (MLB) has approached the Trump administration to explore hosting a regular-season game within a national park, with Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming identified as a potential site. The proposal follows the success of MLB’s special event games at unconventional locations, such as the ‘Field of Dreams’ site in Iowa.

Reports indicate that National Park Service Deputy Director Frank Lands has visited Grand Teton to scout three potential locations for a ballpark and necessary facilities. However, the White House has clarified that the initiative is being driven by MLB and is not a presidential directive or a priority for the administration. The National Park Service has not issued any permits for the project.

The proposal has met significant opposition from conservation groups and local officials. The National Parks Conservation Association has called for the Department of the Interior to reject the plan, while Teton County Commissioner Luther Propst described the idea as ‘a radical departure from the tradition of national parks.’ Any potential game would face complex environmental reviews and wildlife management challenges due to the presence of grizzly bears, bison, and elk in the region.
