Following seasons where teams like the Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox suffered massive loss totals, the league's bottom-tier teams are showing increased competitiveness. There is a possibility that no team will reach 100 losses this season, a first since 2017.

The current lowest-performing teams include the Rockies (46-72), Los Angeles Angels (45-73), Athletics (47-71), and Kansas City Royals (49-70). This shift may suggest that complete roster teardowns are becoming a less favored strategy, as the historical model of losing heavily to secure high draft picks does not always guarantee long-term success, as seen with the Baltimore Orioles.
