Major of Bahia Military Police swims 500 meters to rescue sergeant

A major from the 45th CIPM of the Bahia Military Police performed a rescue in the São Francisco River near Pedra Branca on Wednesday, October 28. While traveling by boat, a police team was attacked by a swarm of bees, forcing the officers into the water to escape.

During the incident, the officers were swept away by the river current. Major Gil observed that Sergeant Lima was struggling to see and could not swim against the current. The major swam more than 500 meters to reach the sergeant and guide him to safety.

Sergeant Lima is currently in stable condition in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receiving medical treatment. The Bahia Military Police command praised the major for his courage and solidarity.
