Major RD Calls for Emotional Openness in Brazilian Rap Ahead of Alfa Album Release

Rapper Major RD used a video posted to his Instagram Stories to critique the rap scene’s habit of glorifying violence while avoiding expressions of pain and weakness. He asked why artists fear showing sadness, linking the reluctance to toxic notions of masculinity.

The reflection coincides with the promotion of his forthcoming album “Alfa,” scheduled for release on 29 July 2026 under Warner Music. The project is intended to break that taboo, featuring personal themes such as family, faith and vulnerability. The album cover, showing Major RD dressed as Nossa Senhora, references his Catholic upbringing and his mother’s role as a Eucharist minister.

Major RD highlighted that the visual and lyrical concept of “Alfa” aims to dismantle the “invulnerability” code that has long been a credential in Brazilian rap, encouraging listeners to accept fragility as part of the artistic narrative.
