Preparations are underway for major sporting events in 2026. In Venezuela, authorities from the Ministry of Interior, Justice, and Peace, along with the Ministry of Sport, have established technical worktables to implement a comprehensive security plan for the 2026 National Sports Games. The plan includes constant patrolling and real-time monitoring of sports facilities, hotels, Olympic villages, and transit routes. Security measures will involve the National Bolivarian Police, state and municipal police, the CICPC, and the National Bolivarian Guard, supported by video surveillance and emergency services.

In the Dominican Republic, the 2026 University Sports Games have commenced, featuring over 2,300 student-athletes competing in 16 disciplines, including athletics, basketball, swimming, and martial arts. The competition is hosted across various locations, primarily the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and other regional academic and sports facilities. Vice President Raquel Peña attended the opening, encouraging participants to balance their athletic pursuits with their academic studies.
