Makai Lemon struggles in Philadelphia Eagles preseason debut

Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Makai Lemon struggled in his preseason debut during a 30-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The first-round draft pick recorded three receptions for three yards on five targets.

During the game, a pass from Tanner McKee deflected off Lemon’s hands, resulting in an interception by Bengals defensive back Tacario Davis. Lemon also muffed a punt return, though he recovered it for no gain. His performance follows a summer hampered by consecutive hamstring injuries that limited his participation in spring OTAs and much of training camp.

While Lemon is projected to eventually compete for a significant role in the Eagles' passing offense alongside DeVonta Smith, his preseason outing drew criticism from fans. In contrast, Eagles fullback Carson Steele led the team in receiving with eight catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.
