Makarios Hospital prepares for rise in seasonal pediatric infections

The Pediatric Clinic at Makarios Hospital is preparing for an expected rise in seasonal infections as the winter season begins. Currently, 16 children are hospitalized at the facility, eight of whom are being treated for viral or microbial infections.

Dr. Elena Papamichail, Director of the Pediatric Clinic, stated that the situation is currently under control. Among the children with infections, three are being treated for gastroenteritis.

The hospital is ensuring bed availability and coordinating with other pediatric clinics in Larnaca and Limassol to provide additional support if necessary. The clinic is also working closely with the Accident and Emergency Department to manage incoming cases effectively.
